Philosophy of Education

The Southernside Montessori School (SMS) is an educational institution which adheres to the philosophy of Maria Montessori, whose primary aim is the promotion and furtherance of the cause of the child to assist him is the creative social factor in the building up of our society. The school believes in the innate goodness of man that given the necessary trust, independence, and a prepared environment the child will spontaneously construct himself into the man who will be the citizen of the world, that is a complete human being able to exercise in freedom, a self-disciplined will and judgment, not prejudice and shaken by fear.
